Job summary

Parabolic Surf, a discretionary trading firm, is hiring a Full Stack Engineer to build and evolve Surf, our React/NestJS stack, and to own multiple layers of the platform and infrastructure.

You will contribute to the analytics platform for trade performance, work with Python and Rust components, and help modernize from C# to Rust while improving reliability with automated tests and integrations. AI-driven engineering is encouraged.

Qualifications

About Parabolic Surf

Parabolic Surf is a discretionary trading firm. We develop and maintain proprietary software enabling concurrent execution across global digital asset exchanges. Engineering is the backbone of our trading operations, providing our traders with the high-performance tools necessary to navigate volatile markets effectively.

The Role

We are looking for a versatile Full Stack Engineer to work directly with our Lead to build and evolve our primary platform and technical infrastructure. Your main focus will be Surf, our React/NestJS layer that manages core business logic, streaming services and API gateways for our downstream architecture.

As an Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership across multiple layers of our stack. You will contribute to our quantitative analytics platform for evaluating trade performance and execution analytics, and assist in expanding our new Algo service (a Python-based wrapper around a low latency Rust execution runtime). You will also participate in our gradual system modernization from our older C# microservices to Rust, while continuing to harden system reliability via our automated testing and integration framework.

We fully embrace AI-driven engineering. We expect you to leverage modern AI tools daily to accelerate prototyping, debugging, execution and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Surf Platform Development: Develop and scale Surf, work directly with our trading team to spec and build features E2E across our React frontend and NestJS service layer.
• Quant & Trading Tooling: Expand our Quant analytics platform to evaluate trade performance and execution analytics; contribute to our market data and account data services and develop new algorithms within our Python/Rust algo framework.
• Architecture Modernization: Support our distributed services while assisting in the gradual migration of older C# microservices to Rust.
• System Resilience: Maintain and extend our automated integration testing framework across gRPC, REST and UI layers to safeguard release quality.
• Operational Automation: Prototype Python and Node.js utilities to streamline data handling, system workflows and tools for the trading desk.

Required Qualifications

• Backend Development: 2+ years of production experience building services in Node.js/NestJS and Python.
• Frontend Proficiency: Solid hands-on experience with React and TypeScript.
• Domain Experience: Experience building software within fintech, financial services, digital asset exchanges or blockchain/crypto.
• AI Integration: Active daily use of AI tooling to accelerate development speed, debugging and code quality.
• Ownership & Drive: Strong engineering fundamentals, self-direction, comfortable asking direct questions and driving features independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Rust & C# Exposure: Experience with Rust or C#/.NET with an interest in high-throughput or low-latency systems.
• Trading Systems: Understanding of quantitative metrics, market data, leverage/derivatives or order management systems.
• Distributed Communications: Practical experience with gRPC, WebSockets and microservices.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Familiarity with AWS, Docker and Terraform.

You are not expected to know everything in this stack on day one. Strong fundamentals and learning velocity matter more than prior exposure to every tool.

Compensation & Logistics

• Competitive Salary: Based on experience.

• Time Zone Overlap: Must work at least 4 hours per day between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM AST for real-time collaboration.
