Job summary

Toptal is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to build software that lets field engineers monitor and control large-scale industrial power systems. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role working across a modern web stack on the frontend and a Python/Go/gRPC backend that bridges into embedded control systems.

You will ship UI features, own them end-to-end, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to commission and service physical equipment, including telemetry and Protobuf/gRPC pipelines.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping production systems.
• Senior-level experience with React or another SPA-based web framework.
• Senior-level experience in Python, Go, gRPC, Protobuf, or industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, CAN, etc.)
• A genuine full-stack skill set — frontend UI work and backend plumbing
• Strong collaboration skills, user empathy, curiosity, and an ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develop UI features end-to-end — from frontend views in React to backend APIs in Python/Go.
• Own features through the full lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, build, rollout, and user feedback.
• Collaborate closely with field engineers, firmware, mechanical/electrical engineers, product and design to commission and service physical equipment.
• Potentially extend scope into core infrastructure and control services within the embedded stack.
• Work with telemetry pipelines built on MQTT over WebSocket, and APIs built on Protobuf/gRPC.

We're looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to build the software that lets field engineers see and control large-scale industrial power systems. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role — you'll ship UI features that talk directly to physical hardware in the field, working across a modern web stack on the front end and a Python/Go/gRPC backend that bridges into embedded control systems. What You'll Do

• Develop UI features end-to-end — from frontend views in React to backend APIs in Python and Go
• Own features through the full lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, build, rollout, and user feedback
• Exercise independent UX judgment in less-defined design areas, given limited dedicated design support
• Potentially extend your scope into core infrastructure and control services within the embedded stack
• Collaborate closely with field engineers, firmware engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers, product, and design to commission and service physical equipment
• Work with telemetry pipelines built on MQTT over WebSocket, and structured APIs built on Protobuf/gRPC

What You Bring
