Job summary

Peregrine Advisors LLC is seeking software engineers in the Washington, DC area for a hybrid full-time role. You will build cloud-native Python services on AWS, implement APIs, automate CI/CD, and ensure robust testing and documentation. Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional hands-on software development experience, including back-end in Python and front-end in React.js.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud development, including AWS Lambda and S3.
• Ability to turn a defined specification into working, tested code and own it to production, using OO design, patterns, and data modeling.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
• Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and Jira.
• Strong communication and requirement translation to technical solutions.
• Ability to estimate tasks and work with stakeholders.

At Peregrine Advisors, you will build and support cloud-native Python services on Amazon Web Services (AWS). But we hire people, not seats. As the work evolves, you will move to where the hardest problems are.

This is a hybrid work arrangement based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and the commuting cadence varies by assignment. The initial engagement requires United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.

Your first project

Your first project will likely have you taking user stories from refinement through production. Depending on the assignment, you may:

• Turn user stories into back‑end features in Python on a cloud‑native AWS stack.


• Build automated workflows with AWS Lambda, Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), and related services.


• Build the application programming interfaces (APIs) and integrations that connect internal systems and commercial products.


• Write unit and integration tests, take part in code reviews, and fix the defects you find, all the way to production.


• Help automate the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline, write secure and accessible code, and support your services once they run.


• Use artificial intelligence (AI)‑assisted development tools in your daily work, and review and test everything they generate.


• Support quality development practices, including test‑driven development and automated testing.

You deliver tested, working code you own through production, including the defects you find and fix. You automate business operations that replace manual checks, validations, and spreadsheet workflows, and you build deployment pipelines that make releasing services routine.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional hands‑on software development experience, including back‑end work in Python and front‑end work in React.js


• Bachelor's degree


• Familiarity with AWS cloud development, including AWS Lambda and Amazon S3


• Ability to turn a defined specification into working, tested code and own it all the way to production, applying object‑oriented design, design patterns, and data modeling


• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle


• Experience with NoSQL databases, for example MongoDB or DynamoDB


• Sound analytical judgment, with strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills


• Experience delivering in an Agile framework such as Scrum or Kanban, with work tracked in a tool such as Jira


• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work directly with non‑technical client stakeholders and turn business requirements into technical solutions


• The ability to estimate your assigned tasks and work efforts accurately


• Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel

Preferred

• Hands‑on delivery of production workloads on AWS, an AWS certification, or a Python certification


• Experience in federal information technology


• Client‑facing consulting experience


• Familiarity with AI‑assisted developer tools


• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

Benefits

This is a full‑time W‑2 position with a salary of $120,000 to $140,000 per year.
