Job summary

Acceler8 Talent is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build a core platform and establish the US engineering team. The role emphasizes Python-heavy backend and data engineering, with exposure to ML/AI tooling and frontend work using React or Vue.

You’ll own features from requirements to design and delivery, and travel to the US office in Herndon, VA as needed while working remotely. Strong collaboration with stakeholders is required.

A UK-based technology and defense company is expanding its US engineering capability and looking for aSenior Software Engineerto help build its core platform and establish the local engineering team.

This is a hands-on role for someone strongest inPython, backend and data engineering, but comfortable working across ML/AI tooling and frontend development to deliver complete features.

You’ll have significant autonomy, taking problems from initial requirements through technical design and delivery.

What You’ll Do:

• Build new product and platform functionality
• OwnPython-heavy backend and data engineeringwork
• Develop reliable systems for data-rich and AI-enabled workflows
• Work withML/AI toolingand integrate machine learning capabilities into products
• Contribute across the stack when needed, includingReact or Vue
• Work with customer and mission stakeholders to turn ambiguous requirements into technical solutions
• Help shape engineering standards as the US team grows

What We're Looking For:

• ExcellentPythonengineering skills
• Strong production experience inbackend and/or data engineering
• A track record of independently delivering meaningful software projects
• Comfortable withML tooling, AI-enabled products and data-intensive applications
• Willing to work across the stack when required
• Exposure toReact or Vueis beneficial
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills

We care more about thescope and quality of what you've builtthan a specific number of years of experience.

Location:

The role is remote, but you must be able to travel to the company's US office inHerndon, VAat short notice as and when clients/customers need.

Candidates based inVirginia or within easy travelling distance of Herndonare strongly preferred.

US citizenship is required

Candidates must beeligible to obtain a US security clearance

An existing clearance is advantageous, butnot required

Compensation:

Base salary:$140,000 to $200,000

Annual bonus:Up to 25%
