Job summary

Bluelight is hiring a backend-focused software engineer in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will design and implement scalable API services, with strong emphasis on security, data modeling, and performance across multi-tenant environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (backend-focused).
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript.
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS.
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs and SDK integrations.
• PostgreSQL/AuroraDB experience with Row-Level Security.
• Secure multi-tenant environments; write SQL and manage migrations.
• Proficient with React; strong testing incl. integration tests.
• CI/CD setup and maintenance; full stack capability.
• Overlap US business hours; Bachelor's degree required.
• Extremely responsible, client-focused, detail-oriented.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours
