Job summary

MRE Consulting is seeking an experienced engineer who can own features from UI to data layer and model logic, delivering end-to-end results without handoffs. You’ll design prompts, iterate on agent workflows, and decide where logic should live—client, server, or model—while working through ambiguous requirements.

This role requires comfort with evolving patterns and delivering working software from loosely defined goals, with a focus on robust, maintainable solutions.

Qualifications

• Production experience across a modern web stack — frontend, backend, and the data layer connecting them.
• Hands-on experience building with LLMs beyond a single API call.
• Judgment to distinguish problems that require a model from those that require a well-indexed query.
• Ability to read and debug code you did not architect.
• A record of shipping finished work, not just prototypes.
• Clear, precise written communication — explain technical tradeoffs clearly.

Responsibilities

• Building and shipping complete features — UI, API, data layer, and model logic end-to-end.
• Designing and iterating on prompts, evals, and agent workflows with versioning and monitoring.
• Deciding where logic should live — client, server, or model.
• Diagnosing cross-layer issues and tracing problems through the retrieval and schema decisions.
• Collaborating directly with product owners to translate ambiguous goals into working software.
