Position Summary

The University of Dayton is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our dynamic team as a Full Service Operations Supervisor within our dining halls! As a Full Service Operations Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of our facilities, ensuring seamless service delivery, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Under the direction of the Assistant General Manager of Operations, responsible for supervising up to 30 bargaining unit employees, 10 part-time employees, and over 100 student employees within Dining Services. Must have working knowledge of food preparation equipment and processes across various platforms including Mongolian grill, impinger ovens, convection ovens, tilt skillet, fryer, industrial dish machine, tray conveyors, wood stone pizza ovens, steam tables, flat top grills, slicers, combi-ovens, steamers, TurboChef ovens, and Micros cash registers. Responsibilities include maintaining standards of quality, service, sanitation, supervising staff, practicing good public relations, supporting departmental objectives, maintaining security, and performing other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Managerial ServSafe certified (or within one year of hire).
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience in food service or three (3) years of successful work in a restaurant or university food service operation.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and administrative abilities.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Good knowledge of food preparation and sanitation.
  • Knowledge of institutional kitchen equipment and processes.
  • Proficiency in internet use and Microsoft Office.
  • Math skills for portioning and production planning.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, stand for 4 hours, differentiate colors, exert fast-paced mobility, and lift up to 40 pounds (or 60 pounds for Central Production).
  • Ability to work in wet, cold, and hot kitchen conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Cbord.
  • Experience with high-volume food production equipment.
  • Experience in a union environment.
  • Associate’s degree in culinary, business, or hospitality management.
  • Knowledge of cash register operations.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Adaptability, decisiveness, integrity, professionalism.
  • Experience working with students and diverse staff.

This 10-month position (August-May) is full-time with benefits. Locations include Kennedy Union (2:30 pm - 10:00 pm, Mon-Fri, rotating Sundays) and Virginia Kettering (3:30 pm - 11:00 pm, rotating weekends).
