Putnam Science Academy is seeking a Full/Part-time School Nurse to join the Putnam, CT team. The nurse will provide medical advice to students, coordinate and dispense medicines, and support school health policies.

Applicants must hold a current CT RN license with BLS and First Aid, and have graduated from an accredited nursing program. The role follows a Monday–Friday schedule with competitive benefits and on-site duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical advice to students regarding illness, medical appointments, and procedures
• Transport students to medical appointments, tests, and procedures when needed
• Coordinate and dispense medicines for each student
• Organize and check medical paperwork for new students and advise families on annual physicals
• Maintain health records and be the point of contact for medical issues
• Stay updated on medical policies, laws, and PSA health requirements
• Attend trainings to meet the school's medical requirements

Job Description

Putnam Science Academy is hiring a Full/Part-time School Nurse

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide medical advice to students, regarding illness, medical appointments, and procedures
• Transport students if needed to medical appointments, test,s and procedures
• Help to train staff
• Coordinate and dispense medicines as needed for each student
• Organize and check all medical paperwork of students upon acceptance to PSA and advise families on annual physicals
• On-call to give advice about possible treatment of students, when not able to be on site
• Assist in the writing of all medical policies and procedures
• The point of contact for medical issues
• To hold all completed health work-related documents
• Work with government agencies to ensure that all certificates are up tp date and inspections meet the highest standard for health and hygiene
• Monitor the quality of medical offerings in line with the PSA plan and to maintain a self-review
• Stay ahead of all medical and legal issues that completely cover the school
• Take responsibility for keeping up-to-date with subject knowledge and in maintaining personal professional development
• Maintain CPR and First Aid courses
• Attend training and meetings when necessary to fill the need of the schools medical requirements
