Job summary

Putnam Public Schools is seeking a qualified Daily Substitute School Nurse to provide healthcare services across the district on a per-diem basis. The nurse will promote student health, manage acute medical needs, and maintain a safe environment for all students.

The role requires a CT RN license with CPR/AED certification, strong clinical assessment skills, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with families, staff, and administration.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Health Assessment & Care: Evaluate and treat student injuries, illnesses, and healthcare needs during the school day.
• Medication Administration: Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with state guidelines and district policies.
• Emergency Response: Provide immediate first aid and emergency triage as needed.
• Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate, confidential health records and communicate effectively with families, staff, and administration.

The ideal candidate will promote student health and wellness, manage acute medical needs, and maintain a safe, caring environment for all students. Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Health Assessment & Care: Evaluate and treat student injuries, illnesses, and healthcare needs during the school day.
• Medication Administration: Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with state guidelines and district policies.
• Emergency Response: Provide immediate first aid and emergency triage as needed.
• Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate, confidential health records and communicate effectively with families, staff, and administration.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensure: Valid Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Certification: Current CPR/AED Certification.
• Knowledge & Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, ability to work independently, and excellent interpersonal skills with students and staff.
• Background Check: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and meet district employment requirements.
