Job summary

Amazon Science is seeking a Principal Applied Scientist to lead full-funnel campaign optimization, inventing models that allocate budgets across sponsored ad products to maximize advertiser outcomes and long-term customer value.

You will set the technical direction for a growing team, collaborate with engineering and product to deploy research to production at Amazon scale, and drive advertiser ROAS and new-to-brand growth.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on predictive modeling and analysis.
• Experience turning ambiguous customer needs into concrete problems.
• Proficient in Java, C++, Python or related languages.
• Experience leading scientists and mentoring junior members.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term scientific vision for full-funnel optimization.
• Invent and productionize ML and optimization solutions for joint budget allocation.
• Develop incrementality and long-term-value measurement approaches.
• Design and lead large-scale experiments to validate hypotheses.
• Partner with engineering and product to deploy models in production.
• Mentor scientists and engineers to raise technical bar across teams.
• Publish impactful research internally and externally.
