Job summary

Barnes, Inc. is seeking an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper to join our team in Wisconsin. This key role maintains the general ledger, performs month-end close, and supports financial reporting to ensure accurate records and strong internal controls.

You will handle AP/AR, tax compliance including Wisconsin sales and use tax returns, fixed assets, ESOP accounting, and HR payroll back-up as needed. Strong QuickBooks and Excel skills are essential, with 3+ years of progressive bookkeeping

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of progressively responsible bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Experience with general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to generate reports.
• Understanding of fundamental accounting principles and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and supporting records.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, AR, AP, inventory, payroll liabilities, fixed assets, and more.
• Process AP, vendor payments, W-9s, reconciliations, and 1099 support.
• Research discrepancies and prepare financial reports for management.
• Prepare and file Wisconsin sales and use tax returns and adjustments.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and disposals.
• Assist with ESOP accounting and related schedules.
• Support payroll reconciliations and backup payroll processing as needed.
• Coordinate with outside CPA and provide year-end information.
• Maintain fleet records and compliance documentation.
• Maintain organized records and identify process improvements.
