Job summary

R & J Cartage Inc. in Porter, IN is seeking a Fuel Transport Driver to safely move petroleum products from terminals to customer delivery points.

This full-time, non-exempt position requires a CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, at least two years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience, and DOT Clearinghouse compliance. You will perform inspections, load/unload, and maintain accurate delivery records while coordinating with dispatch.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.

• Must meet insurability standards and DOT Clearinghouse compliance.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and climb stairs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maintain a fuel transport vehicle in accordance with company and industry standards.
• Load and unload fuel from tanker trucks with proper handling and safety protocols.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections for roadworthiness and compliance.
• Monitor and maintain accurate delivery records, mileage, and fuel consumption.
• Follow all transportation laws, regulations, and company policies, including hours of service.
• Coordinate deliveries with dispatchers and customers; communicate any issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized vehicle and equipment environment.
• Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents during transport.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

FUEL TRANSPORT DRIVER – JOB DESCRIPTION

Fuel Transport Driver Responsibilities:

The Fuel Transport Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of fuel from terminals to various delivery points while adhering to all relevant regulations and company policies. The Fuel Transport Driver loads, unloads and delivers petroleum products to our customers in a safe, efficient and professional manner. The Fuel Transport Driver reports directly to the Transportation Manager.

Fuel Transport Driver duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Safely operate and maintain a fuel transport vehicle in accordance with company and industry standards
• Load and unload fuel from tanker trucks, ensuring proper handling and adherence to safety protocols
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with regulations
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of fuel deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption
• Adhere to all relevant transportation law, regulations and company polices, including but not limited to hours of service
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members to coordinate deliveries and address any issues or concerns
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the fuel transport vehicle and associated equipment
• Respond promptly and appropriately to any emergencies or incidents that may arise during transport operations
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance job skills and knowledge

Experience/Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
• At minimum, two (2) years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience
• Meet insurability standards
• Must meet all DOT requirements including Clearinghouse
• Walk up or down steps and have no difficulty with heights
• Lift up to 75lbs from ground to waist height and 25lbs from waist to above head

Hours:

The Fuel Transport Driver is a full-time position. Flexibility to work various shifts, extra shifts, and/or hours to ensure business needs are met including nights, weekends and holidays.
