Job summary

North Slope Borough is seeking a Trainee to monitor diesel fuel inventory and, after earning a CDL, safely transport and deliver fuel to Borough facilities and residents. The role emphasizes meticulous recordkeeping and compliance with safety and environmental guidelines.

Under direct supervision, you will perform facility maintenance, daily inspections, and weekly inventory. This position offers a defined training path toward CDL certification in a critical Alaskan community setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent 12 years of education/experience.
• Valid Alaska Driver's License meeting insurance criteria.
• Ability to obtain 40-hour Hazwoper within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain an Alaska CDL with X endorsement within one year.

Responsibilities

• Maintain North Slope Borough fuel storage facilities and records.
• Conduct daily inspections of fuel storage facilities.
• Deliver diesel fuel to facilities and residences after CDL is obtained.
• Keep accurate records of fuel deliveries and bills.
• Perform weekly inventory of fuel storage facilities.
• Maintain spill response kits and assist with deployment as needed.
• May be on 24-hour call.
• Handle collections of delivery fees.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
