Job summary

North Slope Borough is seeking a Trainee to monitor diesel fuel inventory and, after obtaining a CDL, operate a fuel truck to safely transport and deliver fuel to borough facilities and residents.

Under direct supervision, the trainee will maintain storage facilities, perform daily inspections, keep records, and pursue Hazwoper and CDL certifications within specified timelines. The environment is alcohol and drug free.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Alaska driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain 40-hour Hazwoper certification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain Alaska CDL with a "X" endorsement within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Monitor diesel fuel inventory at storage facilities.
• Deliver diesel fuel to North Slope Borough facilities and homes after CDL is obtained.
• Maintain all North Slope Borough fuel storage facilities.
• Perform daily inspections of fuel storage facilities.
• Keep accurate records of fuel deliveries and perform weekly inventory.

Under direct supervision Trainee will monitor the inventory of diesel fuel in storage and upon obtaining a CDL, operate fuel truck to safely transport and deliver fuel to the North Slope Borough facilities and residents.

As a trainee the Incumbant will Under Direct Supervision will:

Maintain all North Slope Borough fuel storage facilities.

Perform daily inspections of North Slope Borough fuel storage facilities.

Upon obtaining a CDL, deliver diesel fuel to North Slope Borough fuel storage facilities and residential homes.

Keep accurate records of fuel deliveries. Perform weekly inventory of North Slope Borough fuel storage facilities.

Maintain oil spill response kits and assists with deployment, installation, removal, or other use of spill response equipment and materials.

Maybe required to be on 24-hour call.

Handle collections of delivery fees upon delivery.

Maintain records and documents of bills produced.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.

Skill in basic mathematical computation

High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.

Valid Alaska Drivers License that meets the North Slope Borough insurance criteria;

Ability to obtain 40 hour Hazwoper certification within 90 days of hire;

Ability to obtain a valid Alaska Commercial Drivers License with a "X" endorsement that meets the North Slope Borough insurance criteria within one year of hire.
