Job summary

Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX is seeking an Entry-level Maintenance Assistant to support the mechanic shop and daily operations. You will assist with cleaning, fueling, and inspecting the company motor pool, and work on special projects as part of a team.

The role requires reliability, basic tool knowledge, and the ability to interact with guests and staff professionally. Shift is daytime, with potential weekend/holiday work as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily duties in the maintenance department, including cleaning, fueling, and inspection of the motor pool.
• Set up and use department equipment (power-washers, pumps, generators).
• Maintain golf carts, batteries, tires, and shop area cleanliness and safety.
• Log repairs and inspections of golf carts and equipment.
• Interact with operational personnel and guests in a professional manner.
• Participate in company seminars and educational programs.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY:

Assist Mechanic shop with daily duties such as cleaning, fueling, and inspection of company motor pool. Work as a team member on special projects not limited to the mechanic shop.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for the check-out of tools assigned to the maintenance Department, (ie Pumps, Generators etc.)
• Assist in the set up & use of Dept equipment (Power-washers, pumps, generators)
• Responsible for attending to the fuel pumps and keeping a log of where fuel is used
• Responsible for maintaining MG Golf carts (batteries and tire's etc)
• Responsible for keeping the shop area clean and safe
• Responsible for logging all repairs and inspections of MG Golf Carts
• Interact with all operational personnel
• Participate in company seminars and educational programs
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures
• Wash and clean company vehicles, golf carts etc. as well as the cleaning and repair of company bicycles if needed
• Anything your supervisor deems necessary when a team effort is required
• Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens

QualificationsEDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Any combination of experience or training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid Texas Driver's License
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Must be reliable, responsible and emotionally mature with a cooperative attitude
• Ability to work unsupervised or as a team member and to communicate well with others
• Ability to interact with guests and other staff in a professional manner
• Knowledge and experience with basic electric and hand tools

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work outside in weather extremes including high temperatures during a Texas summer
• Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping and kneeling
• Ability to push and pull objects or materials weighing up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work while standing for long periods of time
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders
• Ability to grasp, lift, or carry items weighing up to 50 lbs, occasionally waist high

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Willing to work weekends and holidays, if needed
