The County of Galveston seeks to hire an individual to assist in completing maintenance and repairs of equipment. The role includes managing shop supplies, operating vehicles for testing, and performing general repairs.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, along with three months of automotive maintenance experience. A Texas driver’s license is mandatory. This position offers a gross annual salary of $35,933 and is an equal opportunity employer.
The purpose of this class is to assist in completing maintenance and repairs of equipment as they are assigned.
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects. The work is typically performed in a service center occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery and chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history. Requires a Texas vehicle state inspection license within 6 months of employment. Requires FEMA 100, 200, 700 and 800 certifications within 6 months of employment.
