Job summary

Arizona Gateway Logistics LLC is seeking an Import/Export Coordinator in Surprise, AZ to ensure compliance with U.S. import/export regulations and manage shipping documentation. You will verify HTS codes, coordinate with brokers and carriers, and maintain auditable inventory records in a fast-paced logistics setting.

Primary location is Surprise, with occasional travel to client sites in the Phoenix metro. The role offers a travel-friendly environment, mileage reimbursement, and a travel bonus

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations and CBP procedures.
  • 2+ years of experience in import/export operations, trade compliance, or international logistics.
  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs (CBP) regulations and internal policies.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain shipping documentation, including commercial invoices and export manifests.
  • Verify HTS classifications and country of origin for accuracy.
  • Coordinate shipments with freight forwarders, brokers, and carriers.
  • Monitor shipment timelines and resolve delays.
  • Maintain accurate, auditable records of inventory and shipment activity.
  • Support weekly and monthly reporting, including export summaries.
  • Assist with compliance inquiries, documentation corrections, and SOP updates.

Reports to: Trade Compliance Manager

Compensation: $23–$27 per hour, DOE

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Import / Export Coordinator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving logistics challenges while ensuring compliance with U.S. import/export regulations. This role is ideal for someone with experience in trade compliance, customs documentation, freight coordination, or international logistics who wants stability, strong benefits, and opportunities to grow within a specialized field.

Primary location is Surprise, AZ, with occasional, paid travel to client locations in the Pheonix Metro area. We offer a travel-friendly environment with mileage reimbursement plus a 30% bonus above the federal rate, along with flexible scheduling during travel to support work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs (CBP) regulations and internal policies
  • Prepare, review, and maintain shipping documentation, including commercial invoices and export manifests
  • Verify HTS classifications and country of origin for accuracy
  • Logistics Coordination
    • Coordinate shipments with freight forwarders, brokers, and carriers
    • Monitor shipment timelines, resolve delays proactively, and ensure documentation aligns with export declarations
  • Inventory & Recordkeeping
    • Maintain accurate, auditable records of inventory and shipment activity
    • Ensure compliance with traceability and recordkeeping requirements
  • Reporting & Process Support
    • Support weekly and monthly reporting, including export summaries
    • Assist with compliance inquiries, documentation corrections, and SOP updates
Qualifications:
  • Required
    • Working knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations and CBP procedures
    • 2+ years of experience in import/export operations, trade compliance, customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or international logistics.
    • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or equivalent experience
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and external partners.
  • Preferred
    • Experience using the ACE portal
    • Knowledge of bonded movements
    • Familiarity with trade compliance systems such as Descartes or SAP
    • Automotive and/or electronic experience a plus
