Job summary

Moorestown Library in Moorestown, New Jersey, is seeking a dynamic Youth Services Librarian to energize our children's programming and services. This 35-hour-per-week position includes one weekend per month.

Responsibilities include answering reference questions, developing and conducting programs for young children, and planning community outreach. A Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program is required; students nearing completion may apply.

Job description

The Moorestown Public Library is seeking a dynamic Youth Services Librarian.

HOURS:

35 hours per week including one weekend per month.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Answer reference and reader’s advisory questions from patrons of all ages
• Develop and conduct programming and events with a focus on programming for young children
• Participate in planning and facilitating community outreach
• Promoting the department’s programming through the creation of flyers, posters and library calendar entries
• Assist with collection development

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Comfort level with current and emerging technologies and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances
• Customer-focused: friendly, helpful, courteous, and energetic with a positive attitude
• Outstanding communication skills
• Willingness to cross-train in Adult Services is a plus

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program is required. Students nearing completion of their degree are encouraged to apply.

ANTICIPATED START DATE:

December 1, 2026

SALARY and BENEFITS:

$55,000 – 60,000. Sick/vacation pay, enrollment in the state retirement program and a comprehensive benefits package.
