Position Summary

The Screening Technician performs audiometric testing and hearing conservation training at offsite company locations utilizing mobile screening units. This position also provides hearing and vision screening at school and community locations. Ensures services provided meet organizational guidelines, funder requirements, and accreditation standards.

Essential Functions

• Drives commercial motor vehicles (box truck and/or truck and trailer) to job sites and prepares mobile units for testing. Maintains, sets up, breaks down, and cleans units. Calibrates, maintains, and sanitizes screening equipment per agency policy.
• Sets up and maintains portable units for school, clinic, and community testing.
• Performs hearing and vision screenings, computer-controlled audiometric testing, hearing conservation training, spirometry testing, and non-diagnostic otoscopy.
• Records results of testing/screenings.
• Completes documentation and ensures compliance with organizational, funder, and accreditation requirements.
• Able to operate commercial motor vehicles and maintain mobile testing equipment
• Proficient in delivering and reviewing screening tests, and ensures participants understand screening and are comfortable during process.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be detail-oriented and have good organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills -- able to build and maintain positive professional relationships with participants and company representatives.
• Computer skills for utilizing a variety of computer and testing systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Experience working in a medical clinic preferred.
• Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certification training will be provided after 90 days for full‑time Screening Technicians.
• May be required to complete the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Spirometry Training Program, depending on client requirements.

Additional Requirements

• This position works early morning, daytime, and evening hours.
• Requires overnight travel monthly, or as needed. This position also requires local travel to school and community locations.
• This position requires driving a box truck and/or truck and trailer to company locations. Must meet all Department of Transportation requirements for operation of commercial motor vehicles weighing under 10,001 lbs.
• This position requires driving personal vehicle to offsite locations.
• Must have reliable vehicle and maintain current Class E driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Must complete and maintain all required trainings/certifications.
• Must maintain confidential information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Working Environment

• Work is performed independently in mobile units at company locations, and at area schools and community locations.
• This job utilizes screening equipment, computer/electronic devices and medical/assistive devices.
• May have exposure to blood and bodily fluids, environmental conditions such as odors/dust/dirt/etc., inclement weather conditions, and loud noises when supporting individuals.
