Job summary

ADUSA Distribution is seeking a Salvage Associate to efficiently move and maintain salvage materials while keeping fleet trailers clean and organized at the Dunn, NC facility. The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow sanitation practices, and readiness to work with the yard management system.

You will unload salvage trailers, separate various salvage items, and load trailers for pickup or reclaim.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Unload salvage trailers returning from retail stores.
• Sort and separate milk crates, pallets, boxes and other salvage materials.
• Prepare trailers for shipping departments and clean trailers interior.
• Load salvage trailers with milk crates for pickup from dairy.
• Load reclaim product to be shipped to reclaim center.
• Maintain Yard Management System entries for completed trailers where applicable.
• Communicate with the switcher to ensure accurate trailer moves.
• Follow sanitation practices and keep the work area clean and debris-free.
• Suggest process improvements to cut costs and boost productivity.
• Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards for accuracy, safety and productivity.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

In this role as a Salvage Associate, you will be responsible for efficiently and safely moving and maintaining all salvage material. Being a motivated self-starter and team member, you will also maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of all fleet trailers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Unload all salvage trailers returning from retail stores
• Separate milk crates, milk pallets, cardboard bales, banana boxes, cigarette totes, store returns, store transfers, bread trays, and plastic bales
• Separate plastic clean, dirty, and/or empty pallets
• Sweep out and prepare fleet trailers for shipping departments
• Load salvage trailers with milk crates for pick up from dairy
• Load reclaim product to be shipped to reclaim center
• Wash the interior of trailers
• Separate, sort, and load bad pallets.
• Load plastic trailers, cardboard trailers, and vendor pallets (CHEP/PECO)
• Key completed trailers into Yard Management System (where applicable)
• Maintain communication with the switcher to ensure accurate and timely trailer moves
• Follow proper sanitation practices; keep work area clean and free of debris
• Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting work group or center that will maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs
• Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in the areas of accuracy, safety and productivity
• Able to work needed schedule to perform assigned duties

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to 60 lbs.
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Able to work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (i.e. cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial trucks)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• High School Education
• Certified on powered industrial equipment where applicable
• Familiarity/experience in a distribution environment
• Highly motivated self-starter and team player with strong attention to detail
