First Security Bank is seeking a candidate for a Retail Management Trainee program in Little Rock, AR. This on-site, one-year program develops foundational management skills in retail banking, including branch operations, regulatory compliance, and sales performance.

You will learn leadership principles through Bank Better University training, rotate between branches in the designated market, and complete various training courses while supporting daily operations and customer service.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Post Secondary education preferred.
  • 3+ years of management experience required.
  • 2+ years of banking experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, typing, 10-key, and utilization of the internet is required.
  • Commitment to demonstrating First Security’s Core 5 values with customers and coworkers.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between branches and/or work‑related training is required.

Responsibilities

  • Learn retail management fundamentals by working alongside and observing an experienced retail leadership team.
  • Develop the ability to foster a positive work environment that supports exceptional customer service, employee engagement, and relationship growth.
  • Learn to promote a service-focused culture where customers feel welcomed, valued, and engaged, while encouraging team members to take ownership of individual and banking center goals.
  • Gain experience supporting daily branch operations, including staff scheduling, performing essential retail duties, and assisting with weekly team huddles.
  • Learn to serve as a communication link between leadership, departments, and staff to support understanding of directives, initiatives, and performance goals.
  • Develop leadership skills by participating in coaching, performance feedback, and reinforcement of policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Learn and support compliance with bank policies, audit controls, security procedures, and regulatory requirements, including BSA, Reg CC, Reg E, Fair Lending, and SAR/CTR guidelines.
  • Gain experience reviewing reports, monitoring transactions, assisting with account maintenance, and helping resolve escalated customer concerns.
  • Support management in achieving banking center objectives and assist with specialized service requests and operational exceptions as needed.
  • Build knowledge of bank products and services across all lines of business while developing customer and community relationships through outreach and engagement.
  • Protect all customer information and bank operations through strict confidentiality.
  • Operate computer software and equipment, telephone, scanner, and copier, and develop proficiency with internal banking systems.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, punctual attendance, and the ability to work on‑site with occasional extended hours when necessary.
  • Attend various retail training classes and perform additional duties as assigned by management.

SUMMARY

First Security Bank is seeking a professional, energetic, and team-oriented individual to join our team as a Retail Management Trainee! If you are passionate about serving our Arkansas communities and want to be part of a dynamic, service-driven team, we encourage you to apply!

In this role, you will develop foundational skills for an entry-level management position in retail banking. As part of this structured one-year program, the trainee will learn to champion First Security Bank’s leadership principles as presented through Bank Better University’s Leadership Training. The trainee will gain a strong understanding of retail management practices through hands‑on training focused on branch operations, regulatory compliance, and branch sales performance. Additionally, participation in various leadership and procedural training courses is required throughout the program. This position requires on‑site work and the ability to travel/float between branches within the designated market.

QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION | EXPERIENCE | SKILLS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

HOURS OF AVAILABILITY

Regularly Scheduled Hours/Week: 40+ hours per week | Monday – Friday 8:00am-5:30pm | Saturdays 8:00am-12:30pm (typically 1 per month) | *Extended working hours may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. The trainee will observe management decision‑making, gain exposure to employee performance evaluation and discipline processes, and develop the ability to assess situations and make informed decisions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Possess sufficient mobility to work in a standard office setting. Perform repetitive hand, arm, wrist, and finger movements while handling currency, documents, and/or office equipment. Substantial time may be spent on the telephone, operating computers, reaching, sitting, and/or standing while occasionally stooping, kneeling, or crouching. The employee must have the ability to speak and hear well enough to carry on customer interactions, conversations, and presentations both in person and over telecommunications. Have near/far visual acuity to identify customers, currency, and reading materials in printed or electronic formats. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Ability to hold a valid driver's license with access to a vehicle that can be used for business travel purposes.
