Primary Purpose
Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates
  • Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and the coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, easy, flexible, and friendly customer service, creating a positive shopping experience
  • Role model outstanding, friendly customer service, using skills and knowledge of department products to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers’ expectations

Control store’s expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment. Understand and use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems. Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation are maintained. Write Deli Bakery HMS schedules biweekly to ensure extraordinary customer service. Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies. Correct unsafe conditions, ensure compliance with regulations, and record accidents. Monitor inventory shrinkage and provide coaching to prevent losses. Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials. Maintain security standards and personal appearance. Complete required training and meet physical requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
  • Ability to solve problems using technical information
  • Minimum age requirements met
  • Certified Food Safety Manager accreditation or ability to obtain within 90 days

Physical Requirements

  • Proficiency with computers and communication systems
  • Ability to push/pull up to 2000 lbs with a pallet jack
  • Bend and lift up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, 50 lbs occasionally
  • Push/pull up to 75 lbs occasionally
  • Stand and walk frequently, handle various substances, perform repetitive motions, reach at various levels, tolerate temperature extremes, and check written documents
