Primary Purpose

Provide quality customer service within the Deli Bakery Department. Responsible for maintaining standards according to the standard practice manual, maximizing sales through excellent customer service, and minimizing shrink through proper utilization of standard practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly, and accurate service to create a positive shopping experience.
• Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
• Follow all technical manuals for processing products, label placement, etc.
• Ensure proper ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise in accordance with policies and guidelines.
• Maintain proper sanitation of the department, equipment, and ensure proper food handling and preparation.
• Use company tools such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO).
• Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
• Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
• Report accidents to the Manager on Duty following established procedures.
• Comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform, including a name badge, with a neat appearance, adhering to dress code.
• Complete required training courses including Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aids.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
• Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.

Physical Requirements

• Use of computers and communication systems.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Bend and lift weights up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Stand 100% of the time, with frequent short-distance walking.
• Handle cleaning and packaging substances.
• Reach and grasp at waist level and occasionally above or below.
• Meet activity volume standards.
• Work in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes.
