Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage the Grocery Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates
  • Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports
  • Manage labor daily and coach associates to meet productivity expectations
  • Provide leadership and motivation to promote a culture reflecting our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operational results
  • Maintain an enthusiastic customer service atmosphere, ensuring a positive shopping experience
  • Model outstanding customer service and use department product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering, supplies, and equipment care
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, inventory systems, scheduling, and business information systems
  • Ensure department appearance, quality, safety, sanitation, and compliance standards are maintained
  • Write department schedules to provide excellent customer service at all times
  • Understand and manage scheduling, sales, projections, wages, hiring, training, and other department management tasks
  • Ensure proper handling of merchandise in accordance with policies
  • Monitor and correct unsafe conditions, record and report accidents
  • Monitor shrink, provide coaching to prevent losses, and assist with bi-annual inventory
  • Ensure promotional materials and signage are properly utilized
  • Comply with regulations and company policies
  • Maintain security standards
  • Complete required training courses
  • Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive feedback to enhance customer satisfaction and sales
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Understanding of store operations preferred
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
  • Ability to solve problems using technical information
  • Leadership ability to direct others
  • Must meet minimum age requirements
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, with or without accommodations
  • Certified Food Safety Manager accreditation or ability to obtain within 90 days

Physical Requirements

  • Proficiency with computers and communication systems
  • Ability to use handheld devices for various tasks
  • Stand and walk frequently
  • Push or pull up to 2000 lbs with equipment
  • Perform repetitive motions
  • Lift weights up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, and about 100 lbs occasionally
  • Handle cleaning and packaging substances
  • Reach and grasp at various heights
  • Work in extreme temperatures for short periods
  • Visual ability to read documents
