Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Grocery Department, including hiring, training, and developing department associates.
  • Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates, providing ongoing performance management, training, and conducting formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Manage labor daily and coach associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflecting our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy.
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  • Create a positive shopping environment with enthusiastic customer service focused on fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service.
  • Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering, and care for supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, CAO, and business systems.
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure department schedules provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Understand and manage scheduling, sales, projections, wages, hiring, training, and other managerial tasks.
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
  • Report all accidents following procedures.
  • Monitor shrink and coach staff to prevent losses.
  • Participate in bi-annual physical inventory counts.
  • Ensure proper use of advertising, signage, and sales promotions.
  • Comply with all regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain security standards.
  • Complete required training courses.
  • Recognize achievements and provide constructive feedback to improve customer satisfaction and sales.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of store operations preferred.
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical skills.
  • Problem-solving skills with technical information.
  • Leadership ability to direct others.
  • Must meet age requirements for specific functions.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties with or without accommodations.
  • Certification as a Food Safety Manager or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  • Proficiency with computers and communication systems.
  • Ability to use handheld devices for orders and inventory.
  • Stand and walk frequently.
  • Push or pull up to 2000 lbs. with equipment.
  • Perform repetitive motions.
  • Lift up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Handle cleaning and packaging substances.
  • Reach, grasp, and tolerate temperature extremes as required.
  • Sufficient visual ability for reading and checking documents.
