Job summary

HONEST WEIGHT FOOD COOPERATIVE, INC. in Albany, NY is seeking a Full Time Bulk Associate to maintain a responsive customer service presence on the Bulk Department retail floor and ensure a clean, well-stocked department.

You will assist customers, train members, supervise shifts where needed, replenish stock, keep areas clean, and help with deliveries. The role requires lifting up to 65 lbs, strong communication, and flexibility in scheduling.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with natural foods.
• Ability to safely lift 65 lbs. continuously.
• Ability to project friendly, helpful presence to customers while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Ability to follow written and oral directions.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Organized, with attention to details.
• Flexibility in scheduling, including willingness to exchange shifts with co-workers, willingness to cover additional shifts if needed, and willingness to alter work schedule to meet changing needs of the department.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with questions, offer samples, and provide suggestions for purchase and preparation.
• Assist with the training of member workers in proper handling of products and department cleaning procedures as necessary.
• As necessary, supervise member workers during shifts, assigning tasks relevant to current needs of the department.
• Replenish and rotate stock following established priorities and schedules.
• Replenish materials such as bags, containers, twist ties, labels, brochures and recipes as necessary to ensure consistent availability.
• Remove damaged or spoiled goods from the sales floor promptly and according to department policies.
• Keep retail, prep, and storage areas in clean and orderly condition, including but not limited to: wiping surfaces, removing trash, breaking down bags and boxes, cleaning bins and utensils, sweeping, vacuuming and mopping as needed.
• Assist with receipt of deliveries as needed, including checking in, unloading and storing.
• Adhere to established departmental procedures and systems.
• Complete special projects and perform additional tasks as assigned by Bulk Manager.
