Job summary

Giant Food is seeking a Clerk II Asset Protection in Arlington, VA. You will protect store assets by investigating shrink, monitoring for theft, and apprehending shoplifters in accordance with policy and law.

Strong observation and reporting skills are essential; flexible scheduling required, including evenings and weekends. We value a high school diploma or GED and prefer candidates with criminal justice or security certification.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor store activity to detect theft, fraud and policy violations.

• Apprehend individuals engaged in shoplifting in line with policies and laws.
• Maintain detailed incident and investigation reports.
• Collaborate with store management and law enforcement as needed.

Position Summary

Clerk II Asset Protection is responsible for the protection of the Company's retail store assets by investigating the loss of asset(s) including merchandise, money, and property. This role is responsible for preventing loss and shrink within their assigned stores through thorough monitoring, investigating, surveillance and other loss prevention tactics to include apprehending shoplifters.

What You Will Bring

High school diploma or GED required, associate degree or relevant certification in Criminal Justice or Security preferred

• 1-2 years of experience in loss prevention, asset protection, security, or related field preferred
• Knowledge of retail operations, shrink reduction strategies, and investigative techniques
• Strong observational skills with the ability to detect suspicious behavior and respond appropriately
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and objective in high-pressure situations
• Basic understanding of laws related to theft, apprehension, and use of surveillance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and incident documentation
• Comfortable using surveillance equipment, reporting systems, and basic computer applications
• Must be able to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and physically apprehend individuals, if necessary, in accordance with company policy and safety standards

Salary range is between $18.29 - $24.38 Hrly
