Primary Purpose
The GIANT Company is committed to building strong families and healthy communities. This role involves entering orders, scheduling work and production, supervising and training team members, receiving, storing, and stocking items, checking dates, and adjusting pricing for items going out of code. The primary purpose is to execute all department tasks as needed while supporting the overall goal of delivering quality service to customers and the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review the work schedule at the start of each shift and ensure all required equipment and supplies are available.
- Perform markdowns, track loss, and maintain accurate loss tracking (KLT).
- Run all equipment associated with deli, carryout, cafe, and cheese; make sandwiches, subs, wraps, and pizzas per SOP.
- Handle meat and cheese handling tasks: cut, slice, portion, weigh, label, and store items.
- Produce grab-and-go items and prepare cases for roasting, frying, and packaging chicken and other meats.
- Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, tools, equipment, display cases, floors, and counters on a regular basis.
- Follow SOP for marking Flashfood donations and use proper safety and sanitation work habits.
- Order smoked program items from the meat department, train staff, and demonstrate the smoker program and process.
- Push, pull, and operate receiving U-boat equipment to load, unload, and store goods and supplies.
- Maintain recordkeeping functions including temperature charts, sanitation logs, production planning, and track loss.
- Prepare and stock all products in department sales floor cases and organize the sales floor cooler and freezer.
General Rules and Safety
- Report all accidents and file incident reports within 24 hours.
- Submit a First Aid kit immediately for all injuries.
- Follow company policy for apparel, footwear, PPE, and safe lifting procedures.
- Complete required lockout/tagout, confined space, right-to-know, and ELM training.
- Maintain a smoke-free environment; smoke only in designated areas.
- Adhere to MSDS information for all materials used during work.
- Keep floors and work areas clear, never leave running machinery unattended, and keep the work area safe and clean.
Qualifications
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Communicate and understand company policies and safety regulations.
- Complete a food safety certification every five years and train new team members on its importance.
- Meet the ergonomic and physical requirements and company performance standards, including regular attendance.
- Use or learn to use the equipment and tools required for the job.
Physical Requirements
- Shift hours: minimum four-hour shifts or longer depending on business needs.
- Lift/carry: 50 lbs; pull static: 20 lbs.
- Stand 55%, walk 45%, sit 0%.
- Category IV: lifting, carrying, PPE up to 55 lbs.
- Exposure to temperatures ranging from freezer to unconditioned back rooms.
Preferred Requirements
Team members are responsible for understanding company policy and procedures as promulgated in the policy and procedure manual and the team member handbook.
