Job summary

Food Lion in Herndon, VA is seeking a dedicated Perishable Department team member to provide fast, friendly service and maintain product standards. You will support daily operations, assist with deliveries, stock meat, dairy and frozen items, and ensure compliance with safety and company guidelines.

The role requires completing Computer Based Training (CBT) and training packets, adhering to the Food Lion dress code, and contributing to a positive shopping experience for customers.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience
• Courteous and helpful to other associates
• Understand and use company tools such as ACIS and CAO
• Receive deliveries, code where applicable, rotate and store merchandise
• Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise adheres to policies and guidelines
• Maintain product levels in all Perishable Department areas (meat, lunchmeat, frozen, dairy, ice cream)
• Process beef and grinds as directed from production tools
• Wrap, label, weigh and stock meat cases
• Assemble, disassemble, clean grinder as needed
• Clean and sanitize the department
• Maintain layout standards and advertising materials
• Follow company guidelines and safety procedures
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions and report accidents
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
• Wear Food Lion uniform with name badge
• Complete CBT and training packets
• Perform other duties as assigned
