State of Oregon is seeking an entry-level Customer Service Guide (Public Benefits Specialist) in Hermiston to help Oregonians access essential services. The role emphasizes compassionate, trauma-informed assistance with the Oregon Eligibility system, across in‑person, phone, and email channels.

Two years in a front desk or high-volume reception setting is preferred, with an associate degree in Behavioral/Social Science or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a reception area or call center with high-volume work.
• An associate degree in Behavioral/Social Science or closely related field and six months of related experience.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Be the first face of contact in most field offices and create a welcoming environment for families.
• Support day-to-day office operations and infrastructure.
• Assist Oregonians in person, by phone, or email with the Oregon Eligibility system and related programs.
• Provide services through a trauma-informed lens.
• May perform financial duties including tracking, issuing, and accounting for financial actions.
• Support broader business functions within the office.
• Learn about programs through the Oregon Eligibility Partnership (OEP).
