Job summary

State of Oregon, Department of Human Services, seeks a Customer Service Guide (Public Benefits Specialist – Entry) to help Oregon families access essential services. This on-site role in Hermiston supports diverse communities and emphasizes trauma-informed customer interactions.

Two years in front desk or call center work plus strong computer skills are expected. Bilingual English/Spanish is a preferred differentiator and may yield a 5% language differential after testing.

Qualifications

• Experience in a front desk or call center with high-volume customer service.
• Typing proficiency and ability to navigate MS Word/Excel and email.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Be the first face of contact in field offices and welcome families.
• Assist in person, by phone or email to resolve questions and provide program info.
• Support operations and use Oregon Eligibility system for ODHS/OHA/DELC.
• Communicate with sensitivity and provide referrals as needed.
• Handle financial duties and tracking as required.
