Responsibilities include medication distribution in absence of medical staff, incident reporting, and coordinating with supervisors.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

• Ability to prepare and maintain reports and records.
• Ability to effectively work with youth, co-workers, supervisors and the public.
• Knowledge of good hygiene.
• Knowledge of the Department and facility policies and procedures.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in a timely manner.
• Ability to determine the appropriate level of force.
• Ability to observe changes in youth’s behaviors.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback to correct behavior.
• Knowledge of good housekeeping tasks relative to maintaining the sanitary conditions of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a safe and secure detention environment for youth.
• Distribute medications in absence of medical staff.
• Perform Master Control, admissions, releases, and transportation duties as needed.
• Supervise youth in all activities and manage behavior using appropriate directives.
• Inspect facility, youth, visitors and packages for contraband.
• Train and orient staff on facility policies and procedures.
• Act as acting supervisor when needed.
• Prepare incident reports and maintain required records.
• Transport youth to medical, court, or social services facilities as required.
• Maintain security equipment and conduct required safety checks.
• Complete required training including CPR, AED and First Aid.
