Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking a reemployed Border Patrol Agent to return to the front lines and protect American borders.

The role starts at a GS-12 level with opportunities for progressive steps and a two-location work preference. As a former Border Patrol Agent, you will leverage your experience to deter illegal entry and enforce immigration laws, while benefiting from an accelerated re-entry training program and potential salary offset waivers.

Qualifications

• Specialized Experience in law enforcement or other responsible work that demonstrated the ability to make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms.
• One year of specialized work experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level that shows you have the skills necessary to interpret and enforce immigration or comparable laws, rules, and regulations, and to perform intelligence, prosecutions, investigations, and anti-smuggling, to identify operational problems, to devise solutions, to ensure compliance of enforcement and operational practices and to apprise management of deficiencies or noted problems.

Responsibilities

• Prevent illegal entry of aliens and smugglers by patrolling borders using various assets.
• Question and inspect individuals and documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Work rotating shifts and be willing to travel as required by the Border Patrol mission.
