Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking experienced Border Patrol agents to protect America's borders. The role supports reemployed annuitants with favorable salary offset options, expedited hiring, and accelerated re-entry training.

Duties include preventing illegal entry, enforcing immigration laws, and pursuing smugglers using a variety of patrol assets. Assignments include evaluating individuals at borders, performing security checks, and patrolling land, sea, and air interfaces

Qualifications

• Specialized experience in law enforcement or other responsible work demonstrating ability to arrest and use firearms judiciously.
• Ability to analyze information rapidly and make prompt law enforcement decisions.
• Develop and maintain a network of informants and contacts pertinent to immigration and anti-smuggling efforts.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders; maintain surveillance from covert positions (e.g., infrared) at night.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets to fulfill USBP mission.
