Job summary

Prime Intellect, Inc. is building the open frontier AI stack and is seeking a senior systems engineer to expand our RL training and distributed infrastructure.

You will optimize training across compute, memory, and networking, contribute to prime-rl, and collaborate with researchers to push performance at frontier scale. This role offers remote or SF-office work, visa sponsorship, relocation support, and regular team off-sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in AI/ML infrastructure for large-scale model training or inference.
• Proficiency with PyTorch and distributed training tools.
• Experience optimizing training performance across kernels, memory movement, or communication;
• Hands-on with data, tensor, and pipeline parallelism.
• Understanding of GPU architecture and performance debugging.
• Identify bottlenecks and drive improvements from first principles.
• Comfort in fast-moving environments with ownership.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize systems infrastructure for large-scale RL and distributed training.
• Improve end-to-end training efficiency across compute, memory, networking, and scheduling.
• Design and implement low-level performance optimizations (kernels, communication, runtime).
• Work on distributed training across data, tensor, and pipeline parallel workloads.
• Shape architecture of RL training stack including async rollout and post-training systems.
• Contribute to open-source libraries and internal infrastructure for frontier-scale training.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate bottlenecks into system improvements.
• Stay at the frontier of training, inference systems, and hardware-aware optimization.
