Job summary

Turing seeks exceptional Research Scientists to advance frontier AI evaluation, data generation, and verification. You will identify gaps in benchmarks, propose ambitious research directions, and drive projects from hypothesis to publication.

This research-first role focuses on frontier STEM evaluation, synthetic data, and agentic science, with opportunities to contribute to published work and enterprise-scale deployments.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in machine learning, CS, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, or another highly technical field.
• Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute original research.
• Strong understanding of modern LLMs and the frontier AI research landscape.
• Excellent experimental design, quantitative reasoning, and scientific judgment.
• Ability to rapidly understand unfamiliar technical literature and develop expertise.
• Strong Python skills and the ability to independently build research prototypes and evaluation pipelines.
• Excellent technical writing and communication.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where the research agenda evolves with the frontier.

Responsibilities

• Frontier benchmarks and evaluation: identify high-impact gaps and design novel benchmarks across STEM fields.
• Synthetic data and post-training: develop methods for generating high-quality synthetic STEM training data and study data quality effects.
• Hallucination, reliability, and verification: study uncertainty, calibration, and epistemic failure; improve factual reliability and verification.
• Agentic science: research AI systems that perform extended scientific work, including literature search, coding, simulation, and iterative reasoning.
