Syntas is seeking an AI Research Engineer to push the boundaries of AI while delivering practical production-ready solutions for clients. This role emphasizes local self-hosted deployment, evaluation of open-source models, and advanced retrieval and multi-agent architectures in a fully remote US setting.

You will prototype, tune, and deploy models, build scalable experimentation frameworks, and translate research ideas into real-world client impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with AI/ML focus.
• Strong understanding of transformer architectures and LLM fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with local model deployment and fine-tuning.
• Proficient Python with PyTorch or similar.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate emerging AI models and potential client applications.
• Design and implement local deployment solutions using open-source models.
• Fine-tune models for domain-specific applications and deployments.
• Develop advanced retrieval architectures for complex information needs.
• Build multi-agent systems and experiment with coordination patterns.
• Create evaluation frameworks to measure AI system performance.
• Translate research into production-ready implementations.
• Collaborate with teams to productionize research outputs.
• Document findings and present technical deep-dives.
