Job summary

Collinear AI, Inc. is seeking a Member of Technical Staff (MTS - Research) to help build the data engine for frontier AI.

You will bridge the gap between frontier research and production engineering, developing high-fidelity environments and evaluation stacks that stress-test agents and measure real-world model metrics. You will iterate on novel RL approaches, translate them into scalable infrastructure, and work daily with the founders and research staff to shape the roadmap and push the

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a technical field (CS, Math, Physics, etc.), or demonstrated open-source contributions/industry experience.
• Strong software engineering foundation with the ability to build robust, scalable infrastructure in a Python-friendly CLI-first environment.
• ML fluency with an understanding of foundation models, their construction, evaluation, and optimization.
• Empirical mindset with experience conducting research or experiments focused on reproducibility and data-driven results.

Responsibilities

• Build Agentic Environments: Design and implement ultra-realistic, long-horizon simulation environments for agents.
• Programmatic Verification: Develop rigorous, policy-aware judges and evaluations beyond basic benchmarks.
• Close the Loop: Design and run post-training experiments (CPT, SFT, RL) for frontier performance on open-source models.
• Rapid Iteration: Debug and iterate across the ML stack, keeping tools command-line first and developer-friendly.
• Collaborate: Work daily with founders and research staff to shape the roadmap and advance AI reliability.
