Job summary

Wilcore Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Front End Engineer to build and maintain the VA Design System (VADS) component library used by VA.gov product teams. You will take components from design to implementation, ensure accessibility, and contribute to data endpoints and testing.

You will collaborate across teams, review PRs, and own releases for the library, while documenting usage notes and storybook stories to support rapid, accessible UI development for federal programs.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with React and JavaScript, including web components and TypeScript.
  • Strong CSS/SCSS skills, including USWDS, design tokens, and the VADS css-library package.
  • A solid understanding of API design and how backend systems work.
  • Deep accessibility experience - WCAG 2.2 A/AA, ARIA, focus management, live regions, keyboard interaction, and hands-on testing with screen readers.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the VA Design System (VADS) component library across teams.
  • Translate designs to accessible components with WCAG 2.2 AA compliance.
  • Review PRs, mentor teammates, and support Tier 2 front-end requests.
  • Publish new npm versions and upgrade vet-website alignment.
  • Document components, stories, and release notes in Storybook.
