Job summary

KoBold Metals is seeking a frontend-focused engineer to build elegant experiences for geology and data science workflows. You will own and enhance web apps for data upload, discovery, search, and visualization, while collaborating with scientists on geospatial tools and visualizations.

The role emphasizes modern frontend practices, mentoring, and automated UI testing within a remote-friendly, full-time environment in the United States or Canada.

Qualifications

• Experience in architecting, developing, and maintaining frontend applications with rich UX.
• Production-quality, correct, performant, scalable, and extensible code.
• Skilled with data visualization libraries (D3, Leaflet).
• Experience with modern JS tools (Node.js, TypeScript, React, Angular), cloud technologies, Python web frameworks (Django, Flask) and HTML/CSS.

Responsibilities

• Build intuitive and elegant user experiences for KoBold’s geology, geophysics, geochemistry, and data science teams.
• Own and improve KoBold’s web apps that manage data upload, discovery, search, and visualization.
• Collaborate with scientists to architect tools for 2D/3D geospatial visualizations, plotting, and data labeling.
• Champion frontend best practices; modernize the stack; mentor junior developers; set up automated UI testing.
