Job description

Company Description

Flight Science is building a mission‑critical platform that strengthens collaboration and enhances decision making from the operations center to the flight deck. The company focuses on AI‑enhanced flight monitoring, communications, and optimization through its Flight Science DX product, designed to support aviation professionals rather than replace them. Its recommendations and alerts help dispatchers and pilots avoid turbulence, reduce fuel burn, and improve on‑time performance. By bringing key tools and information into a single interface, DX saves time and reduces fatigue for operations and dispatch teams, elevating the experience for the people who keep air travel safe.

Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site Frontend Engineer role based in West Hollywood, CA. The Frontend Engineer will design, develop, and maintain user‑facing features for Flight Science’s mission‑critical web applications, collaborating closely with product, design, and backend engineering teams. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include implementing responsive interfaces, integrating with backend APIs, optimizing performance, and ensuring accessibility and usability for dispatchers and flight operations staff. The role also involves participating in code reviews, maintaining high‑quality code standards, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the frontend architecture that supports real‑time aviation decision‑making.

This role is highly visible and key to our success with significant growth potential. As an early member of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to work directly with customers and alongside an experienced group of engineers, researchers, and product specialists. You’ll also have clear goals and a shared understanding of how your work helps make us successful.

Requirements
  • Strong Front‑End Development and Responsive Web Design skills to build modern, user‑friendly interfaces.
  • Proficiency in Software Development practices, including version control, testing, and debugging.
  • Significant hands‑on experience building web applications with React and TypeScript in a professional setting.
  • Experience creating and maintaining reusable UI components and component libraries.
  • Experience writing and maintaining UI tests, including visual testing using Storybook.
  • Working understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and similar software validation and release management practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with interactive mapping and data visualization libraries such as MapLibre, D3.js, and/or deck.gl.
