Build the core web surfaces of an AI-native productivity suite: messaging, documents, spreadsheets, calendar and notes.
The Opportunity
Our client is building the web experiences for a full AI-native productivity suite, and this engineer owns them from architecture through implementation. The client is a well-funded AI applications company, backed by an established technology company in Southeast Asia and building for a global market. The surfaces are the hard ones: real‑time messaging, collaborative documents, calendars and spreadsheets, with AI woven into how people communicate, write and organize rather than parked in a separate chatbot. Expect editor internals, real‑time sync and streaming interfaces rather than page layout. You will work directly with product, design, backend and AI engineers, and you will be trusted to take features from technical design to production on your own.
Role Snapshot
- Location: United States, United Kingdom, Europe (Ireland, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland) or Asia (Singapore, South Korea, China)
- Work Model: Remote in most locations; hybrid in the UK, Zurich and Seoul
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Compensation: Competitive, shared on intro call
- Team: Engineering, web
What You’ll Own
- Build the suite’s main web products: messaging, notes, calendar, documents and spreadsheets.
- Deliver the difficult interactions, including live messaging, rich‑text and collaborative editing, scheduling, tables and spreadsheet grids.
- Establish frontend architecture and shared components that behave the same way in every one of the client’s applications.
- Put AI inside the workflow: streamed model responses, actions the product initiates, and model‑driven experiences.
- Answer for performance, responsiveness, accessibility and reliability on every browser and device.
- Move ideas from prototype to production fast, alongside product and design.
What You Bring
- Substantial experience building complex production web applications in React and TypeScript with a modern frontend toolchain.
- Deep knowledge of frontend architecture, state management, performance and browser APIs.
- A background in highly interactive products: chat, collaboration, productivity tools, document editors, calendars or workspaces.
- Experience with real‑time systems, collaborative interfaces, WebSockets or streaming APIs.
- Sound product and UI judgment, and care for the details of interaction.
- Independence: you can take a feature from technical design to production yourself.
Why This Role
- Breadth: five major product surfaces, each with demanding interaction problems.
- AI built into the workflow itself, with streamed responses and model‑driven experiences in the core product.
- Architecture that matters: the components you build are reused as the client expands into new applications.
- A current stack (TypeScript, React and Next.js, WebSockets and streaming APIs, Node.js, REST and GraphQL) and a short hiring process of three to four interviews.
Not the Right Fit If
- Your experience is mostly marketing sites or simple CRUD interfaces. This is editor, calendar and real‑time territory.
- You want pixel‑perfect specifications handed to you. Product and UI judgment is expected.
- You prefer narrow ownership to carrying a feature from design through production.
