Job summary

Perplexity is seeking a frontend engineer to build the design system behind every Perplexity product. The component library and design language are shared across web, iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows—providing primitives, tokens, and interaction patterns for every product team.

You will design and build core primitives, collaborate with design on the design language, and maintain a high bar for accessibility.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of production frontend development.
• Experience with a design system or shared UI platform is a plus.
• Strong React and TypeScript skills.
• Knowledge of WCAG/ARIA accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core primitives—overlays, inputs, navigation—with coherent APIs.
• Work on design-token pipeline across web and platforms.
• Partner with design to translate Figma systems into typed, documented components.
• Migrate product surfaces to shared primitives without breaking them.
• Build accessible components by default with keyboard, focus, contrast.
• Support teams via docs, visual regression coverage, and on-call rotation.
