Job summary

Perplexity is looking for a frontend engineer to build the design system behind every Perplexity product. You will create core primitives and APIs that power web, iOS, Android, macOS and Windows, anchored by tokens and interaction patterns used by all product teams.

Work with design to translate Figma systems into typed, testable components. Migrate surfaces to shared primitives without breaking them, and maintain accessibility and visual quality with documentation and automated coverage.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building production frontend with a design system or component library.
• Interest in building reusable components.
• Strong React and TypeScript skills.
• Proficiency in CSS and UI styling.
• Accessibility knowledge (WCAG, ARIA).

Responsibilities

• Design and build core primitives – overlays, inputs, navigation, feedback – with coherent APIs.
• Work across the design-token pipeline across web, iOS, Android, macOS and Windows.
• Collaborate with design to translate Figma systems into typed, testable components.
• Migrate product surfaces onto shared primitives without breaking them.
• Build accessible components by default and provide documentation and automated coverage.
• Support consuming teams with docs, visual regression coverage, and on-call rotation.
