Description

The Front Server will function as the liaison between our restaurant culture and the guest. They are the ambassadors of what we’ve made and found while on our mission to establish M&F as the premier hospitality house of coffee and Latin American cuisine. In this role we require ample communication and understanding that as the link between guests and our brand a level of strategic professionalism is required. Additionally, a unique relationship is built to ensure that longevity of the partnership from a staff to management level. A nurturing mindset is needed in this role, understanding that the relationships being developed with each and every guest is going to ensure our success. Genuine courtesy is important. Professionalism and effectiveness must always be maintained. The following are duties you can expect as a Front Server, they include but are not limited to:

  • Be genuinely committed to ensuring that the overall guest experience exceeds expectations, including greeting guests with a warm, sincere smile and anticipating guest needs
  • Use tact and good judgment when dealing with guest challenges, responding to their needs with patience and courtesy
  • Follow all steps of service and respond knowledgeably to questions about the restaurant and menu
  • Use sales techniques and present and encourage current promotions to guests
  • Accurately record and account for all items ordered, process payment from guests, and account for and balance all sales and receipts at the end of the shift in compliance with restaurant policies and procedures
  • Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation (including handwashing) guidelines and procedures.
  • Be proficient in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment, including the Point-of-Sale system, Frequent Diner and Gift Certificate terminals, credit card terminals, and coffee/tea and espresso machines.
  • Assist with Front of House operations to ensure we are guest ready at all times (pre-bussing, resetting tables during and after the guest’s dining experience, washing glassware, stocking ice, taking out lines and trash, etc.).
  • Support fellow servers and service staff with refills and clearing tables and provide guests with beverage service as well as maintaining cleanliness in common areas of the restaurant.
  • Conduct regular restroom checks and restock restroom supplies.
  • Make sure floors and exterior of buildings are clean as required.
  • Respond appropriately and genuinely to all guest requests and communicate those requests to the server or manager.
  • Set up and stock assigned work area by following the established service standards and procedures; inspect stations for proper set-up and appearance.
  • Clear and reset tables within established standard timings and guidelines in a professional and effective manner.
  • Clean service stations, fill ice bins and restock storage.
  • Complete all Jolt check-out lists daily.
  • Assist with set up and breakdown of dining room facilities.
  • Polish utensils and glassware and store equipment as designated.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Assist with training of new staff.
Requirements

The Front Server is required to invest the time necessary to produce exceptional results. This position will also have a rotating irregular schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and frequently a 4-5 day work week full time and 2-3 for part time (depending on availability and business needs).

  • Stooping: to inspect under equipment; to retrieve supplies at lower levels.
  • Crouching: to inspect under equipment; to retrieve supplies at lower levels.
  • Seeing: to obtain information from written material, for computer work.
  • Carrying: to carry 25 pounds for 25 yards to maintain inventory.
