Job summary

Job description

Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant performs clinical and administrative duties to support efficient clinic flow, safe operations, and excellent patient experience. Responsibilities include taking medical histories, recording vital signs, updating medical records, communicating with patients, and maintaining confidentiality. Primary duties vary based on state regulations.

  1. Greet patients, escort to exam room, gather history, record vital signs, prepare for examinations, and document all information.
  2. Deliver high-quality patient experience through excellent customer service and communication with patients, families, and care providers, ensuring safety.
  3. Assist physicians and advanced practice providers in exams and procedures under supervision.
  4. Perform medical procedures such as collecting lab specimens, administering injections, and venipuncture, as permitted by state law.
  5. Communicate instructions to patients and ensure understanding.
  6. Help schedule tests, treatments, follow-ups, and communicate results.
  7. Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies in exam rooms, sterilize instruments.
  8. Respond to calls, requests, triage messages, and maintain patient records.
  9. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program required. Certification required; if not certified, must obtain within 6 months to 1 year based on state regulations.

Experience: 1+ years in an office setting preferred.

Industry: Healthcare

  • CPR certification required.
  • Ability to follow universal precautions, maintain OSHA standards, and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
