Job summary

The Colorado Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (DMVA) in Lakewood, CO, invites applications for an Administrative Assistant I to support daily office operations and provide essential clerical duties within the Division of Veterans Affairs.

Description Of Job

This position is part of our Division of Veterans Affairs and will be based out of our Lakewood Office. The Division is dedicated to assisting Colorado veterans and other eligible individuals in accessing the benefits, services, and entitlements available to them under Title 38 United States Code and Colorado Revised Statutes. The Division fulfills this mission by providing prompt support, efficient, and consistent service to those who have served and their families. This position ensures the efficient and effective performance of administrative duties in support of daily office operations. Specific duties include, but not limited to, the following:

  • preparing and editing correspondence, will be a purchase card holder and will manage statements and invoices for signature as well as compiling monthly reports, and arranging meetings and events;
  • handling all forms of sensitive information, including confidential documents, communications, and meeting discussions requiring the utmost discretion, following secure management practices to safeguard privacy and integrity;
  • inventorying and ordering office supplies, maintaining equipment and ensuring a clean, organized, and peaceful office environment;
  • greeting the public, directing clients and visitors, and scheduling appointments;
  • managing incoming calls and messages, directing inquiries as appropriate;
  • managing the receipt and distribution of correspondence, mail, and parcels;
  • coordinates the use of the division's purchase card requiring tracking expenditures and ensuring compliance; and
  • support additional office functions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Only: One (1) year of relevant experience performing clerical and/or administrative duties.

Or

Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to one (1) year
