Job summary

Onni is seeking a team-oriented server assistant to support our service team in a fast-paced Chicago location. You will help with food & beverage service, table maintenance, and guest relations.

The role emphasizes friendly guest interactions, following safety guidelines, and maintaining cleanliness and knowledge of menu offerings. Prior hospitality experience preferred; training provided; starting wage $13-$15/hour plus tips.

Responsibilities

• Clean and reset tables and transport dirty dishes to bus tub, tray or dish room
• Promptly deliver food to the correct guests according to table and position numbers
• Safely and effectively move chairs, tables, highchairs and booster seats
• Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment
• Ability to multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
• Follow established Solette service sequence for consistent food & beverage guest experiences
• Properly check all guests’ identification to ensure legal age compliance
• Perform side work as needed (i.e., keeping area clean, restocking, etc.)
• Maintain current and accurate knowledge of the menu offerings
• Able to move and lift up to 50 pounds as needed
• Maintain positive guest relations at all times
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies
• Make rounds to ensure tables are attended to with cleanliness, proper utensils, napkins, water, and condiments
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the restaurant is maintained to standards

What Will You Do?

• Clean and reset tables and transport dirty dishes to bus tub, tray or dish room
• Promptly deliver food to the correct guests according to table and position numbers

• Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment
• Ability to effectively communicate to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
• Ability to multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
• Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
• Assist in managing the inventory for beer, wine, liquor, sodas, and other beverage ingredients.
• Follow established Solette service sequence for consistent food & beverage guest experiences.
• Properly check all guests’ identification to ensure legal age compliance.
• Perform side work as needed. (i.e., keeping area clean, restocking, etc.)
• Maintain current and accurate knowledge of the menu offerings.
• Able to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfaces
• Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies.
• Make constant rounds of the restaurant ensuring all guest’s tables are attended to with regards to cleanliness, proper utensils, napkins, water supplies, and condiments.
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the restaurant is maintained to standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Ensure overall guest experience exceeds expectations and anticipate guests’ needs
• Greet guests with a warm, sincere smile
• Use tact and good judgement when dealing with guest challenges and respond to guest needs with patience and courtesy
• Assist service team with all food and beverage service
• Follow all steps of service
• Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
• Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
• Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Get along well with others and be a team player

Salary Range:

$13-$15/hour + tips
