Job summary

State-of-South-Carolina is seeking a Correctional Officer to monitor and control front gate activities and enforce facility policies. You will supervise visitors, escort personnel as needed, and ensure only authorized access to the complex.

You must be a U.S. citizen, 18 or older, possess a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and pass a medical assessment. Completion of the Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within six months is required.

Qualifications

• Tattoos: non-offensive and not gang related or on face/head; neck tattoos evaluated case-by-case
• Must pass a medical assessment
• Must complete Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within six months of placement

Responsibilities

• Monitors and controls pedestrian and vehicle traffic, enforces policy and procedures, assists in non-routing problems.
• Performs sanitation, safety, and security inspections of buildings, contents, grounds, and vehicles; reports deficiencies.
• Supervises and verifies accuracy of scheduled visitors to ensure only authorized personnel enter the complex.
• Ensures escorts are provided for emergency personnel or special groups or functions.
• Monitors inmate movement within the area; familiar with search, contraband, emergencies, escape & use of force policies.
• Processes all visitors and staff through the front gate, including scanning, logging, and accountability.
