Job summary

The University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Library invites applications for the Web Services Librarian, a non-tenure-track faculty appointment at Assistant Professor of Practice rank with a full-time, 12-month contract. The role focuses on building and enhancing the front-end for library systems and technologies, in collaboration with faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities include developing front-end interfaces, improving user experience via analytics, and supporting library web content

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent international degree, or substantial professional experience.
• Minimum six months of experience with source-code editors and content management systems (e.g. Drupal 11, WordPress).
• Minimum six months of experience with HTML and CSS.

Responsibilities

• Iteratively design, develop, and maintain front-end interfaces for library websites, applications, and platforms (e.g. Drupal, LibApps, Primo).
• Assess and improve user experience and student success via analytics and usability testing.
• Create and maintain appropriate documentation.
• Gather and evaluate relevant statistics.
• Coordinate and support library staff in web content development and maintenance.
• Maintain awareness of contemporary design, coding, and accessibility standards.
• Participate in web services and applications that support teaching, learning, and research.
• Partner with faculty, staff, and students as a technology developer and leader of library front-end systems and projects.
• Serve as backup to other members of the library’s IT Services Team.
